OUR AIMS

Quality local resources

To promote the use of local resources, labour and skills to generate a readily available near-native strain of bee with better local adaptation, improved qualities and being easier to maintain in the area than non-local strains and imports. To fulfill this, we encourage the help and support of like-minded beekeepers and the sharing of experience and knowledge to broaden expertise in queen rearing and honeybee improvement.

A branch of the Eastbourne Beekeepers’ Association, we are keen to develop and maintain a local strain of honeybee well adapted to the South Downs climate, with particular focus on improved health and docility.
